THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CGRS is seeking a highly motivated individual passionate about refugee rights with significant federal litigation experience and a strong commitment to working with directly impacted individuals and using litigation, in combination with other advocacy strategies, to promote the rights of asylum seekers. The position is a dynamic one that will reflect the vision and flexibility of the organization in the changing landscape of attacks on refugee rights. This position may be remote within the contiguous United States.
The Federal Litigation Staff Attorney reports directly to the CGRS Director of Litigation. This role will focus primarily on systemic litigation and direct representation but may be involved in other CGRS core program areas as they relate to ongoing litigation efforts. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Litigation and other Staff Attorneys, the Federal Litigation Staff Attorney will be responsible for the following:

Collaborate in developing and leading innovative federal litigation and advocacy toprotect and expand the rights of asylum seekers. This includes conducting factualinvestigations; performing legal research; drafting motions, briefs, and other courtfilings; conducting discovery; and appearing in court.

Develop and maintain relationships with the private immigration bar, pro bonocounsel, non-profit immigration practitioners and other stakeholders supportingasylum seekers (e.g., public interest organizations and community groups).

Represent CGRS in various fora, including local, national, and internationalcoalitions, working groups, and the press.

Maintain open communication and collaboration with directly impacted individualsand community-based organizations.

Collaborate with the Director of Litigation, other Staff Attorneys, the Policy &Advocacy Director, and other staff to identify and support the advancement of CGRSpolicy priorities.

Collaborate with the Director of Litigation and the Communications & AdvocacyManager to develop communication strategies around cases and campaigns; serveas spokesperson upon request.

Collaborate with the Director of Litigation and the Director of Technical Assistanceand Training to conduct trainings, webinars, and other presentations for attorneysand other advocates and produce practice advisories and other training materialsrelated to pending litigation.

Participate in other litigation-related projects and duties on an as-needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience

J.D. degree and admission to practice law in California or Washington, DC, as well asstate of residence if working remotely.

At least five (5) years of federal court civil litigation or comparable experience,including demonstrated knowledge of procedural and substantive law relating tothe litigation of constitutional and statutory claims.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent legal research, analysis, fact investigation, drafting, and editing skills.

Experience in asylum and/or removal defense preferred.

Initiative, vision, and a proven commitment to CGRS’s mission and goals.

THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Individual Giving Coordinator is responsible for supporting CGRS’s individual donor program and working collaboratively with the development and communications teams to create and implement strategies that result in greater individual giving across all gift levels. The Individual Giving Coordinator is critical to how CGRS builds and manages relationships with a wide range of individuals, including major donors, prospects and colleagues.
Typical duties and responsibilities consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Support the Deputy Director to establish goals, develop activities, and create programming to maintain and grow CGRS’s individual giving program, including major gifts.

Manage data-driven strategies for annual giving, major giving, monthly giving, and planned giving.

Organize and execute “moves management” plans to manage and grow relationships with existing and prospective donors, with an emphasis on upgrading donors and securing multi-year commitments.

Collaborate with CGRS communications team on a messaging and communications strategy for building a sustained base of annual individual donors.

Manage a solicitation calendar and direct strategic participation of key staff and board members in individual donor development activities.

Coordinate the law firm giving campaign.

Ensure timely and accurate gift entry and acknowledgement process, including documentation and follow up of verbal and written pledges.

Create metrics and a reporting system to track development team progress.

Work effectively with the development team to foster a culture of philanthropy organization-wide.

Ensure systems and infrastructure readiness including the use, upgrade, and maintenance of existing development databases.

Understand CGRS’s mission, goals, and programming in order to effectively identify, research, monitor, and engage prospective donors.
REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Two (2) years of development/fundraising experience.

The position is based in California and the work includes both national and California-focused matters. The position is a dynamic one that will reflect the vision and flexibility of the organization in the changing landscape of attacks on refugee rights. This position may be remote, but the attorney must reside in California.
The Staff Attorney for Training & Technical Assistance reports directly to the CGRS Director of Training & Technical Assistance. This role will be focused primarily in CGRS’s Training & Technical Assistance program but may be involved with other core program areas as it relates to training, resource development, or mentorship in the representation of asylum seekers.
Working in close collaboration with the Director of Training & Technical Assistance, the Staff Attorney for Training & Technical Assistance will be responsible for the following:

Design trainings and develop resources for dissemination through CGRS’s technical assistance program.

Conduct in-person trainings, webinars, and other presentations for attorneys and other advocates.

Research and write on key legal issues, including practice advisories and training materials.

Respond to attorney requests for technical assistance at all levels of adjudication, including consulting on legal strategy, reviewing, and providing feedback on legal documents, and performing legal research.

Regularly coordinate with the Director of Training & Technical Assistance and Managing Attorney regarding overarching program priorities and funding deliverables.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible affirmative and removal defense experience in asylum and immigration cases, including representation before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration Court, and Board of Immigration Appeals.

Job Description
The primary objective of the Workers’ Rights Program Staff Attorney is to collaborate with the day-to-day operations of the legal services for the agency’s Workers Rights Program (WRP or the Program) as well as with the outreach and education activities of the Program.
The Workers’ Rights Program Staff Attorney will collaborate with the Program to assure that low-wage and immigrant workers in San Francisco are respected and treated fairly in the workplace. The position will assist with reporting requirements as well as take part in fundraising of the agency, especially with respect to the WRP.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
The WRP at La Raza Centro Legal provides comprehensive legal services to low-wage and immigrant workers in San Francisco facing wage theft, discrimination, retaliation, and other violations of workplace rights.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Legal Services
• Provide direct legal services to low-wage and immigrant workers through a mix of individual consultations, advice, and legal representation in wage-and-hour, retaliation, discrimination, and other claims.
• Represent workers in administrative proceedings, and state and federal court, as well as direct settlements negotiations or mediations with employers.
• Manage an individual caseload and maintain regular office hours.
• Collaborate, develop, and strengthen relationships with other legal aids, worker centers, and community partners to provide legal education, outreach, and direct legal services.
• Collaborate with the Legal Director to administer and manage grants, projects, and programs within the practice.

Outreach and Education
• Prepare and conduct “Know Your Rights” trainings and presentations required by the Programs’ grants.
• Conduct general community presentations around workers’ rights when appropriate.
• Facilitate the growth of workers’ rights outreach.
• Assist in determining appropriate case stories to be used for reports, advocacy materials, and public education.
Facilitates the implementation of program systems
• Collaborate with the Legal Director and the Program’s Legal Assistant to collect, monitor, track, analyze, and report data and case deliverables for grants, projects, and programs within the practice.
• Aid with the operation of case management systems.
• Collaborate with the operation of the Program donation system.
• Update existing intake forms, as necessary.
• Assist with the availability of needed library, software, or other training materials.
Coalition Work
• Meet regularly with other legal aid agencies, worker centers, and other community partners, which includes attending meetings with the Workers’ Rights Community Collaborative (WRCC), and the Coalition of Low-wage and Immigrant Worker Advocates (CLIWA), among others, as needed.
• Collaborate with other agencies in developing approaches to media, potential funders, and the community regarding important employment issues.
• Work in partnership with other employment law agencies to develop resources and outreach materials, and work to continually improve community advocacy for workers’ rights.
• Engage in policy advocacy with legal aid agencies, worker centers, and other community partners.
Facilitate the media visibility of the Program’s work
• Serve as point person for calls and visits to the agency regarding workers’ rights issues.
• Establish media contacts with local media, and others, as necessary.
Assist with agency reporting, budgeting, and fundraising for the Program.
• Support the program’s reporting, budgeting, and fundraising efforts, which includes the timely preparation and submission of grant applications and grant reports.
• Assist Legal Director, Executive Director, and any Development Director to identify fundraising opportunities.
• Attend meetings with funders and grantors who show interest in funding the Program and agency work.
• Ensure that Program follows through with commitments made to grantors and funders.
Facilitate mentorship, skills-building, training, organizing opportunities and morale-building opportunities for program staff members

• Train, mentor, supervise, and support ongoing development of a diverse staff of advocates, fellows, clerks, and interns.
Agency-wide Responsibilities

Position Summary

Compensation
Salary is commensurate with years of experience and degrees: ($80,000-$82,500 DOE)
This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. We offer a competitive salary with a benefits package that includes several weeks paid vacation a year, 12 days of sick leave a year and 100% paid employee medical & dental insurance as well as long term disability and AD&D, and life insurance. This position is a non-management position, and is an SEIU Local 1021 position. In addition, there are fifteen paid holidays annually, an annual wage reopener with salary increases the past three consecutive fiscal years, and a generous SIMPLE IRA retirement plan.

Position Responsibilities:

Required Education & Experience:
