HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE FOR CHILDREN OF BAHIA VISTA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & SAN RAFAEL SCHOOLS
Bahia Vista and San Pedro Elementary Schools serve students living in the Canal District of San Rafael, and together serve over 1,000 Pre-K through 5th Grade students. 100% of its student body is eligible for free lunch, as they all live below the poverty line.
Bahia Vista School is lucky enough to have a Family Center which provides support for their families, coordinates counseling services, parent education and assists parents to access a wide array of services available to them in the community (food, housing, clothing, child care, health and dental care, food stamps, AFDC, homeless shelters, legal advice, etc.). As you can imagine, these families have a great need. For most, holiday gifts are completely out of their reach. The students are bright, loving and kind, but, for some, their lives can be difficult. With your help we can make the holidays a little brighter.
Through the Family Center, they are organizing the fourth annual toy drive for San Rafael City Schools children from all 11 schools , including the High Schools, who are in the most extreme need and hope you’ll join us by donating a new, unwrapped gift for a child from 0-18 years of age. The evening of our give-away, they will set up a Toy Shop (on December 15th) where parents can “shop” for free gifts for their children. The children especially like sports, building materials, dress-up clothes, arts and crafts supplies, and gift cards for our middle and high school students (Target is best because kids from the Canal area can walk there, but Starbucks, iTunes, and chipotle are good too). Or if you prefer, a cash donation and we can shop for you. [Checks should be made out to Bahia Vista PTA].
