Simmons & Ungar LLP is one of the oldest law firms on the West Coast practicing exclusively immigration and nationality law.  We represent clients in every aspect of the immigration process and before all relevant federal and state agencies as well as with appeals with the BIA and federal courts.  Several landmark cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and District Courts have been litigated by our firm. Three former partners are currently serving as Immigration Judges in San Francisco.

Simmons & Ungar LLP represents a broad spectrum of corporate clients ranging from start-up companies to publicly-traded, multinational corporations engaged in software/electronics development, finance/investment, advertising, entertainment, pharmaceutical/biotechnology, health-care, medical diagnostics development, engineering, construction, manufacturing and architecture. We also work with individuals in family-based immigration petitions, citizenship cases, deportation and removal court matters, asylum cases, and appeals.

We are seeking an attorney with at least 3-4+ years of experience in employment-based immigration, including significant experience with the PERM labor certification process.   The attorney must:

  • be able to successfully manage a caseload involving individual and/or high volume PERM labor certification cases as well as other aspects of the employment-based immigration process (nonimmigrant visas, EB-1s, I-140s, and permanent residency applications);
  • have excellent and nuanced client communication, computer, organizational, and writing skills;
  • be able to effectively manage and/or work with legal assistants and administrative staff and work in a team of other immigration attorneys as needed;
  • contribute to and follow firm procedures, as well as participate in firm projects and/or events; and
  • be interested in professional growth and involvement in the immigration community.

The attorney may also have a smaller number of cases involving family immigration, asylum, citizenship, and/or other non-employment based applications/matters.

Proficiency or fluency in another language is preferred but not required, as well as a J.D. and licensure with a state bar.
