Associate Immigration Attorney (2-4 Years Experience) Location: San Francisco, CA Salary: $105,000 – $120,000 per year Job Type: Full-time We are looking for an Associate Attorney with 2-4 years’ experience to join our fast-paced and welcoming boutique business immigration law firm that prizes excellence, continuous learning and broad expertise in immigration law. Our attorneys work on both nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions because we believe this comprehensive knowledge is critical to providing sound legal advice. Responsibilities include managing a diverse caseload of Hs, Ls, TNs, Os, ORs, PERMs, I-140s and AOS for a variety of clients; training and overseeing the work of paralegals and support staff; managing growing corporate client accounts; and participating in aspects of firm management as well as business development. We seek a business immigration attorney who is intellectually curious, adept at handling a high case volume, and skilled at promptly distilling complex legal concepts into clear, understandable and practical advice.

Handle high case volume, including the preparation of well-documented, accurate, and approvable nonimmigrant visa and permanent residency filings;

Strategize with various and diverse employers on nonimmigrant and immigrant visa options for employees, which includes counseling on best practices and educating the managers/recruiters who are involved in the immigration process;

Oversee and send prompt, accurate, and easily understandable responses to clients on both legal and practical case questions; and

Manage multiple fast-growing corporate client accounts, including providing counsel on all aspects of the client’s immigration function, as well as providing reports and training.

Required Education and Experience:

JD from an accredited institution

Active license to practice law in any state

2-4 years of business immigration experience in a similar role

Direct, hands-on experience working on various NIV and IV petitions, including PERM

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in legal work and client service

A positive attitude and passionate about serving the immigration community.

Position: Immigration Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney – Removal Defense Program (full-time, exempt position) California Immigration Project (CIP) is hiring for an Immigration Staff Attorney or Senior Staff Attorney based in Sacramento, CA to work in its Removal Defense Program. The position will be focused on providing legal assistance and representation to individuals in their removal proceedings before the Immigration Court (EOIR). This work will include representation of individuals in both detained and non-detained proceedings. CIP currently has a hybrid work model that permits remote work. Duties and Responsibilities Include: ● Provide consultations, limited-scope, and full-scope services to individuals and families in removal proceedings at the Sacramento, Concord, or San Francisco Immigration Court. ● Provide consultations, limited-scope, and full-scope removal defense services to individuals detained in ICE detention centers in California.
● Engage in client-centered, thoughtful, and expert advocacy to clients and pro se individuals.
● Independently manage a caseload of full-scope removal defense cases, including more complex cases as applicable in relation to interest and experience, including but not limited to: state court matters, BIA appeals, and post-conviction relief. ● Support and participate in local immigrants’ rights networks, including the Sacramento Family Unity, Education, and Legal (FUEL) Network for Immigrants, the Sacramento Regional Hub Network, and the California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice (CCIJ). ● Participate in providing pro bono assistance to pro se respondents through the Attorney of the Day program at the Sacramento Immigration Court.
