In response to the recent immigration executive orders, AABA will co-host a joint clinic with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Iranian American Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California, Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus. The clinic will provide legal immigration advice, naturalization assistance, and know your rights presentations.

The clinic will be on March 4, 2017 at the Louis B. Mayer Lounge in UC Hastings, 200 McAllister Street, San Francisco, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Setup will be 8:00-10:00 AM, and cleanup will be 4:00-5:00pm.

If you would like to volunteer at this clinic, please fill out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/3gm1GFV4W5pvckaA3. Training will be provided for volunteers on 2/28/17 at UC Hastings from 6:00-7:30 PM (mainly for attorneys and law students). We especially have a need for expert immigration attorneys who can review naturalization forms after completion.

Cardozo Immigration Clinic/Center for Constitutional Rights/ACLU – Call for Violations of EDNY EO Stay

Cardozo Immigration Justice Clinic, together with the Center for Constitutional Rights, is working in coordination with the ACLU and the rest of the Darweesh legal team from the EDNY case to gather facts about CBP non-compliance with the stay order issued Saturday night.  Specifically, in order to explore enforcement options, we are looking to document instances where any detainee did not have access to counsel, and as a result, may have been pressured or coerced into withdrawing their applications for admission or agreeing to removal, OR was removed or nearly removed in violation of the E.D.N.Y. order.  If you know of any such instances, please read the attached document that describes in more detail what we are looking for and how to coordinate with us.
